The US Army MARS gateway station at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, is operating on its normal schedule during the government shutdown, but routine administrative activity is on hold, computer systems are down, and no membership paperwork can be processed for the duration. As a civilian contractor not covered by the shutdown, Operations Officer David McGinnis, K7UXO, is completing final preparations for the November 3-4 national communications exercise.
