Additional Information: Students will learn basic regulations, operating practices, and electronics theory, with a focus on VHF and UHF applications. Upon passing the Technician Class license, the student will have all HAM radio privileges above 30 MHz. The student will be prepared to sit and take the formal exam to pass the FCC Element 2 license commonly known as the HAM Technician license. Morse code is not required for this license.
Additional HAM related subjects of interest will be presented such as how to select a first radio, how to enter a net, and other topics not on the actual exam but needed to get a newly licensed HAM on the air.
We will be using the Gordon West Technician Class Study Guide 10th Edition 2022-2026, while not mandatory that students purchase it is highly encouraged, Instructor will have copies available the first evening for purchase at a discounted price. Guides will be procured by instructor from ARRL
This course is being offered through the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, students must register through the school and not with the instructor. Students need to register prior to the first class session.
