- Description:

The Merrimack Valley Amateur Radio Association, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to support emergency communications and community events through amateur radio.
A major current activity is building a microwave network, funded largely by Amateur Radio Digital Communications foundation, with nodes in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The microwave system provides backup internet connectivity for the DMR network operated by the New England Digital Emergency Communications Network. Selected sites have video cameras for fire watch over the landscape.
We have also developed portable and mobile units to support community events with streaming video over microwave radio.
We welcome all radio amateurs, especially those interested in microwave radio technology, IP-based networking, emergency communications, and community service.
